Who should attend an Agile course?

Agile Foundation level is ideal for individuals and business professionals to familiarise themselves with the concepts of Agile.

Both Foundation and Practitioner are also suited to current project managers who want to understand this new approach to managing successful projects.

What is Agile?

Agile is a project management methodology that can be applied to projects of any size or type. Based on the DSDM Atern framework, Agile is a best practice methodology that is geared to delivering projects on time, within budget and without compromising on quality.

Adopting an Agile project management methodology will allow the project to evolve and develop iteratively and incrementally.

Benefits of Agile

  • Flexible approach to project management
  • Focused on delivering changes on time and within budget
  • Welcomes and embraces change
  • Consistently involves stakeholder input

Agile vs PRINCE2

Despite the variation in approach and priorities, the two methodologies are by no means mutually exclusive. For instance, a PRINCE2-led project may incorporate sub-projects that use the Agile framework.

Below is a direct comparison of the two project management frameworks.

Agile Project Management PRINCE2 Project Management
Focused on timeframes and budgets Focused on achieving a specific goal
Development orientated ‘Command and control’ orientated
Final specifications not clearly defined Detailed specifications from the start
Stakeholder involvement is crucial Less stakeholder involvement required
